Sport and Activities

At Austwick CE (VA) Primary School, we value sport and outdoor activity as an important part of school life. Our stunning Yorkshire Dales setting offers endless opportunities for children to be active, confident and adventurous. We aim to ensure that every child can take part, whatever their experience or ability.

Sport for All

We are proud to work closely with our local cluster of schools, giving pupils the chance to participate in a wide range of inter‑school events throughout the year. These include:

  • Cross Country
  • Swimming
  • Football
  • Tag Rugby
  • Cricket
  • Netball
  • Multi‑Skills Festivals

These events encourage teamwork, determination and enjoyment of physical activity—values that sit at the heart of life at our school.

Outdoor Adventures

Our children regularly explore the beautiful landscape around Austwick. Outdoor learning includes:

  • Caving
  • Climbing
  • Walks and challenges around the Three Peaks
  • Opportunities to learn navigation, resilience and teamwork

These shared experiences help build confidence, independence and an appreciation of our unique environment.

Our Commitment

Through sport and outdoor learning, we strive to give every pupil the chance to grow, discover new strengths and enjoy being active—reflecting our school’s wider commitment to nurturing confident, resilient individuals.
