“Let Your Light Shine”
Matthew 5:16
Nurturing all to flourish
Our Vision
Our vision is rooted in the ‘Sermon on the Mount’, found in the Gospel of Matthew (5:16).
Jesus explains: “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven."
We are a small, rural school but believe that everybody must be given the opportunity to grow and develop, ready to go out into the world as shining lights. We recognise that we are all special and have unique talents which we nurture to give us the greatest opportunities. We are inspired by the nature around us, and the rich experiences which build our wider aspirations.
Theology of our vision
The words of the Sermon on the Mount remind us that a light should not be put under a bowl – it should give light to all, including oneself. With God’s light and His love, it is possible for everyone to show something of his light in our school, our families, our community and the wider world.
As a church school we believe that we are all able to let our light shine. We are aware of the importance of our actions. Our actions allow us to let our light shine and we can share the light of Jesus with those around us.
Our School Values
We embrace our key Christian values of respect, love, forgiveness and perseverance which are found in the daily life of our school community and allow us to be the best we can be. Our core values fully encompass how we as a school, embrace our Christian distinctiveness and how our families and pupils live this everyday. Our small rural school provides the nurturing environment for our children to flourish surrounded by the beautiful countryside around us. We celebrate these values with our stars of the week in our Praise Assembly each Friday.
